A Montmartre street scene at night

The image is a photograph, not a vintage poster-style illustration. It shows the windmill with its lit sails, the Bal du Moulin Rouge sign, the entrance to La Machine and the wet street reflecting the lights. Because it was shot from the opposite sidewalk, the scene has depth: people standing in front of it look as if they were out on the boulevard.
