A baroque design built on scrolls

The back forms an oval medallion upholstered in red velvet and topped with a crest of carved foliage. An acanthus scroll rises from the back of the seat to support the medallion. This asymmetrical detail sets the Granada apart from more restrained Louis XV chairs and brings it closer to the Rococo style. The cabriole legs follow the same vocabulary, with a carved leaf at the knee of each front leg. With no armrests, the chair stays tall and narrow: it reads from across the room and takes up little floor space. The velvet has a glossy sheen that plays off the gilding as soon as candlelight or warm lighting hits it. It belongs to our classical and baroque furniture range.

Where to place the Granada chair on the wedding day

A single chair draws more attention than a row of matching seats. Set facing the officiant during a non-religious ceremony, at the end of the head table or in front of a floral backdrop, the Granada marks the bride's or groom's seat without going as far as a throne. For the decor, it works with ivory tablecloths, red roses, fine glassware and gold candelabras that echo its frame. To keep the look balanced, leave the red to the chair and the flowers, and stick to light tones for the rest of the table.

Red and gold in December and on camera

At the end of the year, the red and gold pairing fits right into Christmas decor. The Granada chair works in a photo corner at a company holiday party, next to a Christmas tree and deep green fabrics, or in a more classic Christmas setting. On a film set, at a photo shoot or in a store window, this one piece is enough to set a theater or cabaret mood, especially against a black backdrop that brings out the gilding.

Velvet and gilding are easier to judge in person than in a photo. At the 126 Events showroom in Pantin, just outside Paris, you can see the Granada chair, compare its shade of red with your flowers or linens, then add it to your quote request.
